- The assumption that physical systems are computable then means that for any set of laws L1, L2, … Lk you can always derive E for any set of initial conditions C1, C2, … Cr, using a finite amount of mathematical knowledge (i.e. a finite algorithm). This is normally taken for granted. It is, as I said above, a tacit assumption whose presence (and hypothetical nature) is not even realized by most people. But it is actually just that: a hypothesis.
